Terrain Equalizer

Terrain Equalizer is a specialized application for the generalization of terrain models for 3D maps.

Important: This is a pre-release for testing only. The final version will certainly feature a different graphical user interface. Features of Terrain Equalizer may be changed with the final version.

Terrain Equalizer is free and open-source software. Version 0.1.2 (pre-release) of 6 April 2011 is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Please see the system requirements.
To run Terrain Equalizer on Mac OS X, double click its icon. If you run into problems, please see here.

Running Terrain Equalizer on Windows and Linux is currently slightly more complicated:
  • Make sure there is a Java system variable (path to e.g. C:/Program Files/Java/Jre6/bin).
  • Install the "jogl.jar" file inside the lib/ext directory located in the home directory of the java install (Search for the java binary if you can't find the java home directory), and install the following native libraries under the jre/bin directory: jogl.dll, jogl_awt.dll, jogl_cg.dll.
  • Open a terminal window, and change to the directory where TerrainEqualizer.jar is located and type java -Xmx1200m -jar TerrainEqualizer.jar
